Our Programs.

At Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E), our programs are designed to address the root causes of poverty and marginalization in Marsabit County. Each initiative is created with community input, ensuring our solutions are practical, relevant, and sustainable.

1. Dam Construction (Ongoing)

Water scarcity remains one of the greatest challenges in Marsabit, affecting households, farming, and livestock survival. To provide a lasting solution, Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E) is undertaking an ongoing dam construction project aimed at capturing and storing rainwater for year-round use.

The dam will serve as a vital water source for surrounding communities, reducing the long distances families travel to fetch water and supporting farming and livestock rearing. Once complete, it will also help with drought resilience, improve food security, and strengthen livelihoods.

This community-driven project is being built with local labor and input, ensuring sustainability and ownership. It stands as a long-term investment in the fight against water scarcity in the region.

2. Blood Pressure Kits Initiative

Health is the foundation of a strong community. At Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E), we recognize the growing need for early detection and management of high blood pressure, especially in remote areas of Marsabit County where access to healthcare facilities is limited.

Through our Blood Pressure Kits Initiative, we provide portable, easy-to-use kits to community health volunteers and local clinics. These kits help in early screening, regular monitoring, and raising awareness about hypertension and healthy lifestyles.

By bringing essential diagnostic tools closer to the people, we are not only saving lives but also empowering communities to take proactive steps in managing their health.

3. Wheelchair Distribution Program

Mobility is more than movement — it’s independence, dignity, and access to opportunities. At Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E), we believe that no one should be left behind due to physical disability or lack of resources.

Our Wheelchair Distribution Program provides mobility aids to individuals with disabilities in Marsabit County, especially those living in rural and hard-to-reach areas. These wheelchairs are carefully selected for durability and suitability to the region’s terrain, ensuring they truly meet the needs of recipients.

By restoring mobility, we open the door to education, employment, and social participation, helping recipients lead fuller and more independent lives.

4. Women Empowerment Program

At Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E), we believe that empowering women transforms entire communities. In Marsabit County, where cultural and economic challenges often limit women’s opportunities, we work to break barriers and create pathways for growth.

Our Women Empowerment Program provides skills training, small business support, and leadership development opportunities. We equip women with knowledge in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, tailoring, beadwork, and modern farming techniques — enabling them to earn a sustainable income and support their families.

Beyond economic independence, we foster a safe space for women to share experiences, build confidence, and participate in community decision-making. By uplifting women, we’re investing in the well-being and prosperity of the whole community.

5. Water Distribution Initiative

In Marsabit County, access to clean and safe water remains one of the biggest challenges for many communities. Through our Water Distribution Initiative, Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E) works tirelessly to ensure that families, schools, and health centers receive reliable water supplies.

Using water bowsers, storage tanks, and community partnerships, we deliver clean water directly to remote villages where wells and boreholes are scarce. This project not only improves health and hygiene but also reduces the long hours women and children spend fetching water, giving them more time for education and other productive activities.

Our mission is simple but impactful — to turn every drop into hope, dignity, and opportunity for the people we serve.

6. Food Distribution Program

In the arid lands of Marsabit County, food insecurity is a daily struggle for many families. Through our Food Distribution Program, Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E) provides essential food supplies to the most vulnerable households, including the elderly, single mothers, and children.

We distribute basic staples such as maize flour, wheat flour, rice, spaghetti, sugar, and cooking oil — ensuring that families have the nourishment they need to survive and thrive. These distributions are often paired with nutritional awareness campaigns to promote healthier eating habits, even in resource-limited settings.

Beyond meeting immediate needs, our goal is to restore dignity, reduce hunger-related suffering, and bring hope to communities facing hardship. Every food package delivered is a step toward a stronger, healthier Marsabit.

7. Farming Support & Land Preparation

Agriculture is the backbone of food security in Marsabit County, yet many small-scale farmers struggle to prepare land due to limited resources, outdated tools, or lack of access to machinery. At Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E), we help farmers kick-start their planting season through our Farming Support & Land Preparation Program.

We provide ploughing services, distribute quality seeds, and introduce climate-smart practices to maximize yields. By reducing the time and labor needed to prepare land, we enable farmers to focus on improving production, generating income, and ensuring their families have enough to eat.

This program not only boosts food production but also strengthens community resilience in the face of climate change.

8. Digital Literacy & Skills Development

In today’s world, digital skills are essential for education, business, and employment. Yet, in rural Marsabit, access to computers, internet, and training remains limited. Ebisa Community Empowerment (ECO-E) bridges this gap through our Digital Literacy & Skills Development Program.

We provide structured ICT training for youth, teachers, and community leaders, covering computer basics, internet use, and digital communication. We also introduce coding, online work skills, and software use, opening up opportunities for remote jobs and e-learning.

Our community ICT hubs offer access to computers and internet, creating spaces for innovation, research, and connection to the wider world. Through this program, hundreds have gained skills that empower them to compete in the digital economy.
